This newborn session was definitely one of my favorites. It took me a whole 3 minutes to walk there as this little guy conveniently lives two blocks down the street from me. They have loads of natural light and he was so easy to photography. His parents are already smitten with him and he is definitely the star of the show. I look forward to watch this sweet little guy grow up and hopefully seeing him around the neighborhood. Thanks for letting me capture this special time with new baby H!
On a cold day in January, I somehow ended up in one of the warmest apartments in Northern Virginia. These two sweet people welcomed one of the most adorable newborns I've ever seen. She had cheeks for days and a full head of beautiful hair. And you'll remember their furry family member from their maternity session. He got to be included too (well, there was not much of an option according to him). Floor to ceiling windows provided ample light and an awesome loft apartment was a great setting. I can't wait to watch Baby M grow!
After meeting these parents a few months ago for their maternity session, I could not wait to meet their new daughter. And of course I was not surprised to see a beautiful newborn who is already loved so much. She has a gorgeous well-lit nursery in Capitol Hill that made a wonderful backdrop. And we cannot forget about the first furry child. He also wanted to be a part of the photo session and joined us for a few exciting shots at the end. I can't wait to watch sweet baby E grow!
There are few things that could be cuter than a sweet 7 day old with a full head of hair. But a lively 2 year old toddler brother with a smile that could kill...well that can do it! Meeting these two brothers (and their lovely parents and Bubbie) was a wonderful way to start the new year. Big brother was awesome for the camera, as soon as I showed him how Elmo can "dance" on my head. And sweet baby Z was a great model, showing us his beautiful eyes and sweet baby toes. I loved capturing this special time for this family of 4.
This gorgeous couple just contacted me to let me know their little one has arrived...so I guess its time we get their maternity session up on the blog! When I made plans to meet up with them at Capitol Hill's Lincoln Park for their maternity session, I asked L how I'd recognize them. She said "I'm really pregnant and my husband is really tall". After that, I knew I'd like them. They endured cold temperatures and even survived a "middle of the street" shot (phew!). Can't wait to meet baby M!
This family invited me to photograph them when this sweet 4 month old had all of her grandparents (and biggest fans) in town to celebrate her first Christmas. It was so wonderful to see how little baby L can light up a room (and the faces of those in the room!) We also lucked out with the fact that Christmas Eve Day also brought 70 degree temperatures so we were able to get some great shots outdoors. Thanks N Family for this lovely morning.
This sweet family had just moved to their beautiful new home in VA. A huge perk of this new home was this wonderful front yard. Not only did this yard provide a beautiful backdrop but it also seems to be little M's favorite place to play. He warmed up right away and would happily pose for the camera and show me all of the exciting new things he's found in his front yard. I loved meeting this family and capture sweet little M in all his glory.
From the moment I met them, I knew I'd love working with these two. Not only are they easy going and fun but they did their research. They told me all of the things they learned online for how to take the best maternity pictures. And they brought their sweet sister along to help out with their sweet pup. He was a great addition to these maternity pictures and I wonder how he'll feel in a few months when the newest addition arrives. To be continues in January, 2016...
I loved every member of this family. I've known some of them for a good part of a decade and their warmth and sense of humor always shines. Though working with three generations of one family, especially with toddlers and a six week old (!), can be quite the challenge this was totally worth it. And if you're wondering how we got such genuine smiles in some of these, it helps having a very funny grandpa do all sorts of moves behind me. I need him at every session! With almost two year olds you never know what they'll be like. They could be cooperative or want nothing to do with the camera. They could love being held by their parents in sweet poses or want to run free. Well this two year old was any photographer's dream. She never whined or complained despite freezing temperatures. She never ran off. And she did almost any pose her dad told her to. In fact, he stood behind me and she just copied him. And having two awesome parents didn't hurt. Thank you sweet E for being such a fantastic photo subject. Two years olds in DC-learn from her!
