One Year Full of Laughs {Washington DC Family Photography}

I loved this kid from the moment we met in Bethesda. He smiled at me instantly and took exactly no time to warm up. Despite just turning one the week before, he was on the move and he was quick. But once I could keep up with him, I got a lot of smiles. In fact it was impossible for me to choose my favorites because in every picture this guy had a big smile on his face. His parents were easy and helpful and this created these awesome shots. I loved meeting this one year old-Happy First Birthday!

Big Kids-H Family Silver Spring, MD {Washington DC Family Photography}

If you've looked around here a bit, you will recognize that my business is mostly kids under five. And if I'm being realistic, its a whole lot of kids in their first year, if we can even call them kids then. I'm used to clapping when they sit up unassisted, fake sneezing, playing peek-a-boo and doing a whole lot of embarrassing voices and games to get smiles. So photographing this family where the youngest was eleven years old seemed like quite a breeze. Everyone could sit up on their own, there were no tantrums though there did seem to be quite a few cell phones pop up during our session. It was fun to be able to make real jokes that don't involve animal noises and watch as this loving family engaged with each other before oldest son heads off to college in the fall. Thanks for a wonderful evening H family.

An old favorite: the K Family in Meridian Hill Park {Washington DC Family Photographer}

You might remember this family from their newborn session a mere six months ago. Well little E has grown quite a bit and now this little girl has her own personality. She was a bit tired during our morning at Meridian Hill Park so I captured a few more shots back at their home near U street. She is full of life and adventure and I even got to capture some of her first moments standing up in her crib on camera. She was clearly quite pleased with herself. Thanks little E and family for a fun morning together.

Three Generations {Washington DC Family Photographer}

I have known this family for a long time. A really long time. So long that my mom still had to drive me when I went to their house. One of my favorite things to do at their house growing up was to look at their old family photos where they were often dressed alike (all 4 siblings!). So it was quite the wonderful experience to see them all grown up, some with kids of their own. These four siblings have a special bond and I hoped to capture that this very sunny morning in Atlanta. The fact that they also have adorable offspring helps for sure. While I think we all could have used a nap after this session, I hope these photos are ones they will look back on with love.

Meridian Hill Park in the Morning {Washington DC Family Photographer}

Its amazing how different personalities can show at only seven months. Some people think a baby is a baby. And I might have felt the same until I photographed this one. Despite being woken from his nap a few minutes after he fell asleep and suddenly plopped in some wet grass, this guy was all smiles. In fact, for the entire hour in the morning cold he never cried. It helps that he has wonderful parents and is as cute as a button. That, along with the early morning light made for a beautiful family session for these three.

Sweet Brothers {Potomac Newborn Photographer}

Sometimes you walk into a house with a newborn and everything is silent. The parents are whispering, the baby is sleeping soundly, and I feel like I should talk in a hushed town. Not in the W house. As soon as I got there, two year old big brother was talkative and friendly. He was interested in his little brother but only for a few short minutes before he was off to the next adventure. His little brother, though small in size, already had a large presence in this family. He has a gorgeous head of hair and a calm demeanor which makes for a perfect match. Good luck W family in all your new adventures!

Seven Months of Sweetness {Washington DC Baby Photographer}

I had met baby M with his parents right after he was born and his mom asked me when the best time to photograph him would be. While the real answer is "anytime" I told her 7 months is a great age. Sure enough, I was right (phew!) and this guy was as smiley and sweet as ever. He never cried despite being woken up when I got there and the amazing light in their Logan Circle condo made for fantastic photos. Baby M was an all star and I can't wait to see what the next seven months bring!

Northern Virginia's Newest Girl {Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer}

On a cold day in January, I somehow ended up in one of the warmest apartments in Northern Virginia. These two sweet people welcomed one of the most adorable newborns I've ever seen. She had cheeks for days and a full head of beautiful hair. And you'll remember their furry family member from their maternity session. He got to be included too (well, there was not much of an option according to him). Floor to ceiling windows provided ample light and an awesome loft apartment was a great setting. I can't wait to watch Baby M grow!

A New Beauty {Washington DC Newborn Photographer}

After meeting these parents a few months ago for their maternity session, I could not wait to meet their new daughter. And of course I was not surprised to see a beautiful newborn who is already loved so much. She has a gorgeous well-lit nursery in Capitol Hill that made a wonderful backdrop. And we cannot forget about the first furry child. He also wanted to be a part of the photo session and joined us for a few exciting shots at the end. I can't wait to watch sweet baby E grow!

The Only Thing Sweeter {Chevy Chase Newborn Photographer}

There are few things that could be cuter than a sweet 7 day old with a full head of hair. But a lively 2 year old toddler brother with a smile that could kill...well that can do it! Meeting these two brothers (and their lovely parents and Bubbie) was a wonderful way to start the new year. Big brother was awesome for the camera, as soon as I showed him how Elmo can "dance" on my head. And sweet baby Z was a great model, showing us his beautiful eyes and sweet baby toes. I loved capturing this special time for this family of 4.
